The author, born in The Netherlands, studied Zoology and Psychology at Trinity College, Dublin, and completed a Ph.D. in Zoological Ecology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. He then worked as Fishery Biologist in Ireland, before specializing in Human Ecology based in the Anthropology Department of Leiden University, The Netherlands. Subsequently, the author researched and wrote The Natural Religion.
